CYBER FOUNDATIONS (AT 6670)

Career opportunities in Information Technology and Cybersecurity are exploding across the globe. IT & Cyber Foundations at the ATC introduces the technical and professional skills required for students to pursue careers in these exciting fields of study. This exploratory course exposes students to the programs offered as part of the IT & Computer Sciences strand at the ATC; allowing them to investigate career opportunities and develop foundational technological skills in the areas of information technology and telecommunications systems, network and hardware engineering/support, programming and software development, web design and cybersecurity. Upon completion of this one-year program, qualified students will have the opportunity to obtain nationally recognized certifications from industry leaders, such as, Microsoft and Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).

 

 

 

CYBERSECURITY SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY I (AT 8685)

CYBERSECURITY SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY II (AT 8686)

We use technology on a daily basis, but has it ever crossed your mind how it all works? This course focuses on the hardware and software of computing devices with an overview of cybersecurity. Here you will learn how to build, repair and secure desktop computers, servers, laptops and networks, as well as install, configure, troubleshoot and secure various operating systems all through hands-on labs. While in this program you will have the opportunity to earn certifications like the CompTIA, A+ (1st year), Network+ (2nd year) and Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) which are highly desired in the IT and Cybersecurity job market. A+ certified second-year students will have the opportunity to participate in work based learning.

Cyber threats and hackers present some of the biggest threats to our national security, businesses and personal lives. Our society depends on continuous Internet connections to communicate and collaborate, and as such, the risk of cyber threats increases. In this program, students will take a comprehensive approach to the needs of protecting our computer systems. Students will learn how to incorporate cyber protection and defense of networks, applications, facilities, web security and our mobile devices and smart products. Ethical hacking labs will allow students to learn how to defend against threats and conduct penetration testing safety checks on networks. Students will work with Windows and Linux operating systems and during the two-year program will have opportunities to become certified in nationally recognized certifications from CompTIA and Microsoft.

 

 

 

SOFTWARE AND GAME DEVELOPMENT (AT 6641)

ADVANCED SOFTWARE AND GAME DEVELOPMENT (AT 6642)

VBCPS: 3 credits per year, 2 years

You can play a game on Xbox or on your phone, but can you actually “create a game” for them? Software and Game Development serves as an introduction for students interested in learning fundamental programming concepts, using Game Maker, Visual Studio, C# and the Unity Game Engine. Advanced Software and Game Development students are introduced to database programming, mobile app development and advanced programming concepts using Java. End of course projects have included games created in Unity Game Engine, Unreal Game Engine, games using the Oculus Rift and programming the TCC Planetarium. Students will prepare for the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) assessment in Computer Programming in the first year. During the second year, students will take the Microsoft Office Specialist Access Certification and be eligible to sit for the AP Computer
Science Exam.

Design, Coding and Business —

Become a tech triple threat!

The Web Design courses at ATC prepare students for the rapidly expanding tech opportunities in web design and development. The learning is wrapped in a business-centric class model to prepare students for life outside of the classroom. In the first year of the program, students will learn and apply design standards to build eye catching and effective web experiences while simultaneously developing solid coding skills in HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. Students learn to integrate all types of web content: text, images, graphics, audio and video, into their websites to enhance the overall user experience.

 

In the second year of the course, students will use their established design and coding skills in a business-like setting. This professional environment enables the development of entrepreneurial skills, project management and a business communications experience, in addition to advanced design and coding skills. In this unique classroom experience, students use industry-standard web design software and editing tools from Adobe and Microsoft.

 

Qualified students will be eligible to sit for industry-recognized certifications from Adobe and Microsoft.

You’re texting and tweeting. You’re uploading to Snapchat and Instagram. What are you really doing? You’re networking on digital networks. Since networks are a big part of your life, shouldn’t you know more about them? The Cisco engineering program provides a hands-on introduction to networking and cybersecurity through the utilization of Cisco routers, switches, wireless devices and more. The courses are designed around real-world experiences using an E-learning platform which includes virtualization and gaming components, and are delivered in partnership with Cisco Systems Networking Academy, a global technology giant. Students can earn the Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Cisco Certified Entry Level Technician (CCENT), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and CompTIA Security+ certifications.
